IRA Newsletter Weekly Project: Effective Literacy Website #4 Exploration

IRA Newsletter Weekly Project: Effective Literacy Website #4 Exploration

Vooks (https://www.vooks.com) is a growing online streaming library of animated children's storybooks. For teachers and homeschool educators, they can access the site for absolutely free for one whole year with no credit card required. After that, it's only $4.99 per month or $49.99 per year. The site contains no ads or in app purchases, a curated library of popular kid friendly books and text that is animated as it is read aloud. The library is filled with stories and songs created specifically for children. Users can stream stories with an internet connection or download them straight to their device for offline viewing. Vooks also has a resource section where teachers can choose from a range of books then download a corresponding PDF teacher guide.
This site is kid-safe since their library is filled with stories created specifically for children ideally kids ages 2-8. What I like best about Vooks is that it doesn’t contain any ads or inappropriate content.  It’s a safe alternative for kids’ screen time and is filled exclusively with animated versions of some of the most well-known and my personal favorite children’s books such as School’s First Day of SchoolChicka Chicka Boom BoomGoodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site and more!  Additional titles are constantly being added to the platform regularly.  The app is easy to navigate, with different categories like: New Releases, Popular Titles, and Bedtime. There are also different categories for your child’s interests (ex. Vehicles, Little Princess, Animals, and the Classics). I find it amazing that Vooks takes the time to work directly with the top publishers, authors, and illustrators around the world.
