The literacy website ABCYa https://www.abcya.com/ is a website that offers free games and other resources that promote literacy. The games are made for kids in the grades Pre-K to 6th grade and above. ABCya is linked to the common core standards which makes it a great resource for any teacher trying to promote or teach literacy. The literacy website has resources for every discipline and can be used for various subjects. In addition to games, the literacy website also provides videos for teachers to use in their classroom. ABCya is easy to navigate and the website is designed to be appealing to children.
ABCYa is separated into nine different tabs. The tabs include games for Pre-k, 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade, 4th grade, 5th grade,6th grade and above, and videos. When one of the grades are clicked on, the games are even separated further. The tabs then include games for letters, numbers, holiday, strategy, and skill. The website provides games that help students practice writing. For example, ABCYa provides ample games for preschoolers to practice words. It is a fun way for students to strengthen their literacy skills. The preschoolers can play alphabet bubble, alphabet sliders, alphabet order, talk to me alphabet, and monster mansion match. There are many games to choose from so kids will not be bored.
Teachers and students can either pick a grade and a skill they would like to practice or choose a common core standards and games will show up. I like how the website has games to practice skills for the core subjects. For example, the 6th grade tab has many games to help students in Math, Science, Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts. The skills tab has games like find the technology, hydro logic, latitude and longitude, USA geography puzzle, etc.
I also enjoyed the different videos that the website had to offer. I find them very useful for different activities in the class for character building. There are many videos that can be used for arts and crafts. There are some on how to make a 3D cube, how to make a pipe cleaner crown, how to make an origami bunny, etc. The videos are fun and can bring out the creative sides of students. I recommend all to try using ABCYa’s website. It takes a fun turn on learning.
