Effective
Literacy Website #5
The
fifth website that I chose to explore is LearnEnglish Kids. I chose this website because there are useful features,
activities and resources for ELL students. It targets students with different
learning capabilities since there are sections for kinesthetic learners, visual
learners, tactile learners, and auditory learners. By exploring more details about this website,
I found that it offers great features for learning English. These sections
include games, videos, poems/chants, Read and write, speak and spell, grammar
and vocabulary, printouts, and interesting topics.
In the game section, students will have fun playing games by
reading the instructions given and have fun playing and practicing English. In
the grammar section, students can learn grammar rules and play games to help
them understand. There are also printouts activities, tests, and reference
cards to help them learn and remember. In the poem/chant section, students will
listen to chants which helps with grammar. There are fun chants to hear how
grammar is used. They will also have chance to listen to poems which helps them
improve their pronunciation and think about different topics. In the Read and
Write section, students practice their reading and writing in English by
selecting interesting topics. Printouts and games are attached to each section
they wish to explore.
In the printout sections,
teachers can printout craft and colouring activities that is also engaging for
these types of learners. This tool has great colouring pages to have fun
practicing English vocabulary. There are pictures for many different topics
including people, places, and different times of the year. It is engaging for the tactile learners or those that enjoy making things. This site also offers parents’ tutorial. If a
parent is not sure about what to teach to a child in English, they can search
on hundreds of free online English games, songs, stories, and activities on
this site and find useful information. They can also find out about courses
offered at their teaching centers.
Overall, this is a great website for ELL students and I
recommend that ELL teachers and students should visit this website since it
offers free learning tools that will definitely engaging for all learners.
