IRA Newsletter Project: Effective Literacy Website #5

The Teacher’s Corner (https://www.theteacherscorner.net/) is a literacy website that provides a variety of resources for teachers. Teacher's corner has printable worksheets that promote literacy for both reading and writing. It also has free lesson plans available for teachers. I like how the website includes different activities for various subjects. The teacher’s corner is easy to navigate. It includes teacher resources, lesson plans, worksheets, and activities.
The website is separated into various tabs. The tabs include printable worksheets, lesson plans, seasonal items, bulletin boards, teacher resources and thematic units. On the home page, it displays items that are currently popular. It includes January and February activities and units. I really liked that it provides writing prompts for January to help students practice their writing. Lastly, it shows the printable worksheets for that month and bulletin board ideas. So, teachers do not even have to click on any tabs if they were looking for ideas for the current month.
The teacher corner is a great resource because it allows teachers to make their own worksheets. For example, there is a crossword maker, word search maker, word scramble maker, and match up maker. It also comes with easy directions for teachers to follow. Along with that, teachers can also print several different worksheets that are pre-made. The worksheets include sudoku puzzles, telling time worksheets, handwriting worksheets.
In addition, the website has some seasonal items for the holidays. These can be used during homeroom or character-building education. The website provides activities for New Year’s, Valentines, Martin Luther King J.R., etc.. The website does not stop there. I really like how it includes teacher resources. It has classroom tips and classroom management tabs.
Teacher’s corner can be a resource used for different grade levels K-12 and can be used in all disciplines. The literacy website has a thematic unit tab where you can search a specific topic. For example, there is a lesson on “nouns, verb, and adjectives”. When clicked on, a lesson plan is provided. The site also provides different activities and websites that can be used to teach “nouns, verbs, and adjectives”. I think that Teacher’s corner is a great resource in the classroom. I recommend all teachers to give it a try.
